sensitive skin lotion

I don’t know that this actually relieves itching, but it sure feels good going on, it stays on the skin for several days and even lasts through showers, and a couple of weeks after using it, say, two or three times a week, my skin is so soft and supple!  Added benefit:  when you first mix it up it smells SOOOOOOOOOOOO good.  It changes a bit over time, getting a little mellower smelling.  I love it.

1 cup of coconut oil

2 oregano oil capsules

rosemary oil — about 10 shakes out of a dropper top bottle

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Mix up all the ingredients in a container.  It would probably be best to mix up the ingredients right inside the container you want to use the lotion out of.  I mixed mine up in a recycled glass “designer salt” jar with a cork top, and found that the lotion is very drippy, so I poured half of it into a small plastic travel bottle, which works well.

Coconut oil is solid below 76 degrees F, so this will be solid most of the time, or will separate and part of it will be solid, part will be kind of solid.  I’ve just thrown my little plastic bottle into the shower as the water runs, and it’ll get warmed up by the time I’m done with the shower and ready to slather it on.

Coconut oil is great for skin.  Rosemary oil is great for itchy skin.  Oregano oil is also good for itchy skin problems.  It’s been a couple of weeks since mixing this up, and I remember reading that the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar both balance the skin’s pH.

Update March 24, 2014:  I have used this lotion so much since hives are no longer part of my life.  I keep a little plastic bottle of it in my bathtub area and whenever my skin is the least bit dry  or uncomfortable, I throw the bottle on the shower floor while I’m showering, and by the time I’m done showering the coconut oil will be warmed up and the recipe will be fluid enough for me to slather on a few drops on my skin wherever I need it.  A few drops the size of a quarter will moisturize both legs for the rest of the day, and will even last THROUGH the next shower.  One formulation of the recipe probably lasts me a year.
